Mother Teacher Scatterbrain

I came across this poem on social media this morning.  It is written in the rhythm of one of my favorite Biblical passages: 1 Corinthians 13, a poem about love (or charity depending on your Bible).  Keep this in mind as you make your preparations.

I came across this on Facebook.

I miss Chick Fil A so badly!  I was driving one day craving a fruit cup.  Now, it isn't that I can't make the fruit cup at home, it is just so convenient not to have to. I also miss the rest of the menu.  But I found out that there is supposedly one here.  So, I will be calling and taking a visit if I find out that it is open.

Recently, I went thrifting and upon arriving home, my mom found a bed bug! Ugh! My first response...

Scribble on a sheet of paper with crayon and put it between the page you are writing on and the page you want the copy on!  Yay for free and cheap!

Today, this blog got its first subscriber and reached 10,000 page views! Yippee!

I am always looking for a new hustle, but it has to be something that I would truly enjoy doing. I have to feel that it is a purposeful activity and what is more purposeful than helping someone? So I am considering becoming a postpartum doula. I remember how much help I needed after my son was born and I was so blessed to have my mother, but what about people who don't? That is where a postpartum doula comes in. It seems like a wonderful summer job!

I am also considering being a birth doula. I was blessed enough to have my sister and a great friend helping me through my son's birth, but again, what about those who are not as fortunate?

There are certificate programs for both birth doulas and postpartum doulas. I have chosen to review the DONA International Program, but CAPPA (Childbirth and Postpartum Professional Association) also has a program which has additional certification and training options. (While I don't think you need any certification, the training could prove beneficial in the long run.)

If we are going to apply business practices and such to education, let's be all inclusive. If we are incorporating such terms as free market and data and accountability, we need to incorporate discussion of problems in business. One such is the concept of short termism.

After reading Psalm 8 and a post on a blog about everyone being a gift from God, I was feeling particularly important within this earthly realm. I always believed hat each one is God's Gift to the World like the Jeff Majors and Kelly Price song, but I always thought of it in terms of appreciating each other's gifts. I never thought of it in terms of taking political action. No one is more important than anyone else. If you combine your talents with like minded people, you just may have something.

A few days ago, I saw this letter on Facebook, saying that the First Lady said that Beyoncè is a fine role model for her kids. I don't disagree with the First Lady and here is why:

In reading about Dr. Afrika and African Holistic Health, I came across Dr. Sebi, who claims to have the cure for AIDS. I'm just saying, let me find out. He describes something called "electric foods."

Right after I had my son, I was talking to the custodian at the school where I worked. I remember him wearing masks in the spring to combat the Georgia pollen and reduce his allergies, but this spring, he wasn't. He had gotten very ill at the beginning of the school year--heart problems, I think.

Since that incident, I saw him get steadily stronger and when I asked him about allergies a year later, he told me that since he stopped eating junk, he doesn't have allergies. All I could remember was that he is a vegetarian, he doesn't eat refined sugar, and he extols the virtues of spelt bread (which he spelt for me, lol, I made a funny).

Anyhow, now a year later, I am suffering with allergy and sinus problems such that I cough, sniff, and experience this jacked up hearing problem that I call stuffy ears. I choke n plain air and I think that I may have a touch of asthma. (You love my medical terms! I know I am no doctor, but I know my discomfort well.) I am also looking to lose weight and improve my health all together.
