Oversized Shrug from DIYMeesha

I saw the shrug in a few of the many Facebook sewing groups of which I am a member!  We couldn't figure it quite out, but then I saw Tamisha Ridge's tutorial.  Oh my word!  It is so simple!  It is literally a big piece of fabric, folded in half (self edges matched) and sewn partially closed on the raw edges.  It is then hemmed and you can put it on!  Just watch!

And the possibilities are endless.  Lace trim, bias binding, patchwork and linings, and on and on.

Only thing she didn't mention is how long a piece of fabric to cut.  Now, you will probably end up with extra, but this McCall's 6468 pattern is very similar.  The yardage listed for your size may prove to be a good place to start, and if you prefer the more closed sleeve version, you can use the pattern as well or just sew yours more closed!  Customizations are what make sewing worth doing!
